Here are some tips on how to take care of your Glitter Girls doll’s hair, as well as 3 easy, dazzling hairstyles for you to learn.
Doll Hair Care Tips
- Brush your doll’s hair on a regular basis to keep her hair smooth. Use our Bedazzling Brush or a similar wire brush for best results.
- If you run into knots, try spraying the hair with some water, first. Then, divide the hair into small sections and comb gently, one section at a time, working from the ends of the hair to the roots.
- Spritzing a little water into your doll’s hair before combing will help to remove kinks.
- Curly hair should be brushed very carefully so that it doesn’t frizz. Use your fingers to gently detangle the strands.
- Avoid using hair care products such as gel and mousse because they may damage your doll’s hair.
- Do not use a blow dryer, flat iron, curling iron, or any other tool that uses heat on your doll’s hair. Avoid extreme heat!
3 Hairstyles to Try on Your GG Dolls
Donut Bun
Who doesn’t love a good donut? Though you can’t eat the kind we’re talking about, donut buns are great for being active because it keeps hair in place! This is a chic and easy hairstyle you do-nut want to miss.
- Detangle your doll’s hair with a brush, then comb it back.
- Use a hair tie to create a high ponytail. Wrap the hair tie around tightly.
- Twist the ponytail, then wrap it around its base. Use another hair tie or two to hold the twist in place.
- Finish by using small bobby pins to secure any loose strands sticking out from the top of the donut. Then, accessorize with GG bows and hair clips as desired.

Simple Braids
This timeless look is beautiful, and it doubles as an important steppingstone in learning more complicated hairstyles down the road. Use this hairstyle to match your dolls with their favorite horses!
- Brush your doll’s hair to remove tangles.
- Choose which section of hair you want to braid. For pigtail braids, simply part your doll’s hair in the middle, dividing the hair into two parts.
- Divide your chosen section of hair into three parts. Hold the left-most section of hair in your left hand, and the right-most section of hair in your right.
- Cross the right section of hair over the middle, so the right section is now in the middle.
- Then, cross the left section of hair over this new middle section, so that the left section is now in the middle.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5, always bringing the outer sections of your doll’s hair into the middle. Continue braiding until you’ve reached the end of the hair’s length.
- Tie the braid off with a hair tie, leaving some hair unbraided at the end.

Zig Zag Pigtails
We love a Y2K look! Zig-zagged parts are super fun, and they add a little flair to your everyday hairstyles with little to no effort. So, once you’ve mastered this fun part, you can pair it with braids, buns, low ponies, and (two) thousands more!
- Brush your doll’s hair back, making sure that it is smooth and tangle-free.
- Using a fine-toothed comb, begin to part your doll’s hair in the middle or on whichever side you prefer.
- Continue to part your doll’s hair in a zigzag motion, all the way down to the base of the neck. Hair will gather along the way.
- Use your fingers or your brush to separate the hair that has gathered so that it falls on either side of the zig-zagged part.
- Tie up the sides of your doll’s hair with hair elastics while using your fingers or a brush to smooth out any bumps. Choose between matching or mismatched colors for a fun look!
