There’s something the Glitter Girls crew loves to do during the holidays: craft! Crafting is an engaging, hands-on activity that’s not only fun and creative, but a wonderful way to bring people together. And it lets you use glitter! This holiday season, join us in creating festive masterpieces with our top 5 holiday crafts for kids.

Glitter Girls Holiday Crafts

1. Holiday Slime Bag

You heard right! Homemade slime is an ooey-gooey kids’ craft that dazzles the senses. It’s also a surprisingly simple DIY for kids and grown-ups to make! All you’ll need is a few staple ingredients and up to 5 minutes’ time to make slime of your own. Put it in a bag with a few mini snowflakes and you’ll have yourself a wintery sensory toy that will last for weeks! Try our homemade slime recipe and experiment with different colors. There is a myriad of variations on this amazing craft for kids!

2. Glittering Snow Globes

DIY snow globes are easier than you might think! To make this kids’ holiday craft, you’ll only need a mason jar, a small figurine, some water, a few drops of glycerin, a couple teaspoons of tinsel glue, and either hot glue or super glue (only grown-ups should handle this part). Glue your figurine onto the interior of the mason jar’s lid, then add any other decorations you’d like. Fill the mason jar with cold water, add the glycerin, then add the tinsel glitter. Finish by putting the mason jar’s lid on – with your decorated scene – and screwing on the ring, using glue to create a perfect seal. And voila! A homemade snow globe for the holidays.

3. Paper Snowflake Garlands

Paper snowflakes are a classic, no-nonsense kids’ craft. All you need is some paper and a pair of craft scissors to make a wonderful, unique snowflake you can stick on the wall! If they’re too easy for you, however, try taking it a step further by stringing them into garlands. Then you can hang them in the window, so it looks like snow is falling. Add a dash of glitter, make snowflakes of different colors, and make something cool!

For a simple snowflake, fold a square sheet of paper in half, forming a triangle. Then, fold it a third and fourth time. If you want a more intricate snowflake, fold the triangle once more, one third of the way inwards, to create an arrowhead shape. Cut the ends off to remake a triangle. Finally, cut small shapes off the sides of your triangle, then open it up to reveal a pretty homemade paper snowflake.

4. Holiday Wreath

Want to make a pink wreath? What if you covered it in donuts and other festive treats? The sky’s the limit when you make a wreath of your own! For this kids’ holiday craft, grab a foam wreath and any knickknacks and decorations you like from your local craft store. Then, set up a crafting table at home, where you and your family can work together as you embellish your new family wreath. It’s easy, festive, and creative!

5. DIY Ugly Sweaters

Who says that holiday sweaters are ugly, anyway? This holiday activity encourages creativity while rejuvenating your wardrobe. So, add a little razzle-dazzle to your winter break by decorating some old sweaters! Use a variety of crafting supplies and decorations like bows, bells, tinsel garlands, and pom poms, and attach them either with hot glue, stitches, or double-sided tape. Try making some with Glitter Girls doll clothes, too, so your kiddo’s fashion dolls are perfectly styled for the season.
