Lots of people hunker down during the colder, winter months. But staying in doesn’t mean that you can’t shine your brightest! The Glitter Girls agree that there’s still lots to do at home, and many ways to stay both active and creative.

Whether you are hosting a sleepover or simply spending the weekend at home, here are 10 dazzling activities to keep you busy during the winter season:

1. Get Mini Makeovers

Invite your friends over and take turns giving each other makeovers! Think nail art, silly dress-up, and fun hairstyles. Get as creative as you want or follow tutorials you’ve found online. You can even practice on your Glitter Girls doll! Nixie loves to play with scrunchies and hair clips.

2. Make DIY Jewelry

Make your very own necklaces, bracelets, and earrings! They’ll last forever, and so will your memories of doing this together. Create unique pieces with beads in all your favorite colors and shapes! Psst – Alphabet beads come in handy for kids with names you don’t find in gift shops!

3. Paint a Masterpiece

Express yourselves with painting! First, protect your space with a drop cloth, then grab some construction paper and paint brushes. Get creative and try experimenting with different paints, like acrylic and watercolor!

4. Make Homemade Play Dough

Snowed in? Make some play dough! DIY play dough only requires a handful of ingredients that you might have in your pantry, and it should only take a few minutes. Mini tip: use food coloring to make the colors your kiddo wants!

5. Have a Dance Party

Dance like nobody’s watching! Put on some music and have an impromptu dance party to mix things up. If you don’t think you have the moves, try putting on a kid-friendly music video and copying the dancers with your little one!

6. Make Hot Cocoa

Hot chocolate never fails to warm the soul. The best part is getting to top up your mug with marshmallows or whipped cream! Eniko loves to put a splash of orange juice in her hot cocoa. You should give it a try!

7. Host a Movie Night

We’re not talking about your run-of-the-mill stream. Make this movie night extra special with homemade snacks or your favorite takeout! Dim the lights and get as cozy as possible – PJs, pillows, and all! You can even go the extra mile with a galaxy projector to liven up your space.

8. Build a Fort

A pillow fort will transform a regular room into an extravagant castle! It fosters creativity and lets your child build a special little home – a place where magic can happen! This weekend, why not build a fort of blankets and pillows with your little one, then let them play with their dolls inside?

9. Make Paper Snowflakes

All you need for this lovely craft is some paper, scissors, and creativity! Fold square sheets of paper into triangles, then cut into their sides to make beautiful patterns. For a little extra pizzaz, why not add some glitter, color, or mini pom poms? Then, put them on display in a window!

10. Play a Family Board Game

That’s right – break out the old board games and make memories! Board games are super engaging, and they’re sure to change your weekend routine. Whether you’re in for some friendly competition or you’re playing as a team, games are great for bringing the family closer together!
