Looking for some spring staycation inspiration? The GG crew has got you covered! We love to make the most of spring break and to be tourists in our own towns. It makes that well-deserved break more memorable, and it helps to bring the family together.

Without any further ado, here’s a fun mix of indoor and outdoor activities to help you sparkle through your kiddo’s week off.

1. Go to the Library

Discover hundreds of children’s stories you can borrow for free! Many libraries offer fun storytime and crafting sessions, as well as discounted passes to local museums and parks. Some libraries can even lend you more than books, like sporting goods, instruments, toys, and more!

2. Create an Obstacle Course

Run, jump, and roll the day away in your very own backyard obstacle course! With this activity, kids can get super creative with pool noodles, hula-hoops, logs, buckets, ropes, cones, and everyday objects you have around the house. Ready, set, go!

3. Visit a Museum

Find a special exhibit or destination that interests you and make a day of it with a packed lunch. Lots of museums have colorful and interactive components that keep kids engaged and wanting to learn more!

4. Make Glitter Slime

It squishes, it stretches, it sparkles, and it shines! Glitter slime only requires a few ingredients, and it’s oh-so satisfying to play with. Kids and grown-ups alike will love this calming, DIY sensory activity that’s super easy and affordable. Check out our blog post to learn how to make slime.

5. Go to a Farm Animal Sanctuary

Here’s an open-air activity that’s both educational and hands-on! Interacting with farm animals encourages compassion and the bravery to pet larger beings, like donkeys and alpacas. (It’s also super cute.) Some farms offer fun wagon rides and sweet treats, too!

6. Play in the Park

Visit your local playground or go the extra mile with a hike out of town. Spring break is the perfect time to start enjoying the warmer weather outdoors. Tavi & Nougat love to explore the parks in their area, and they bring snacks along with them for yummy picnics!

7. Put on a Talent Show

For this activity, everyone presents their special talent, tells a joke, or performs a silly dance routine! Want to show off your latest craft? Go ahead! Can you do a cartwheel? That works, too! There’s no real contest, here. The prize is to have a good time!

8. Bake a Sweet Treat

Muffins. Cupcakes. Cookies. Donuts. The list goes on! There are so many delicious things that you can bake together, as a family. The Glitter Girls go nuts for donuts because they’re so easy to share, and everyone can decorate their donuts to their liking!

9. Make Friendship Bracelets

Show friends how much you care by making friendship bracelets! There’s a reason this craft has stuck around. Friendship bracelets only require thread, and some patterns are simple enough for kids to make these bracelets within an hour or two.

10. Go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt

Create a themed list of things to find, then go looking for them in your backyard or local park. This is a great way to get in touch with nature. The theme you choose can be as simple as color, or you can write a detailed list of flowers, trees, and animals. Check off all the wonderful things that your child finds as you go!
